  • Ethnic Studies Ph.D Program Open House, October 28, 2009: Prospective students are invited to attend our Fall Open House on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, from 9:30am-5:00pm. It's a great opportunity to meet students and faculty in our department, share a day in the life of the UCSD Ethnic Studies Department, meet with faculty one-on-one, and visit the UCSD campus.     Please note: Because of unavoidable scheduling conflicts, our Fall 2009 Open House has been rescheduled to Wednesday, October 28 (the original date was Wednesday, November 4). We regret any inconvenience this may cause and hope that as many people as possible will be able to attend on the earlier date. We will be sending out more information about the Open House schedule of activities soon.

Fellowship Information:

New students are admitted in the fall quarter of each academic year. January 15, 2010 is the application deadline for admission for Fall 2010. UCSD Offi cial Application for Admission and Awards and the application fee are submitted through the online application form available at:

http://graduateapp.ucsd.edu/

A complete application for admission includes:

• The Statement of Purpose (no more than 2500 words)
• At least three letters of recommendation
• Offi cial GRE scores: UCSD school code: 4836; department code: 2299
• One set of offi cial transcripts from each institution attended after high
school (send to Ethnic Studies Deparment address, below).
• At least one writing sample (e.g., research papers) of no more than 30
pages (submitted via email to ethnicstudiesphd@ucsd.edu as a Word or
.pdf fi le attachment
• Students interested in funding need to complete the San Diego
Fellowship Statement. Information is available at:

• International applicants must submit offi cial (TOEFL) scores
