Amrah Salomon Johnson, PhD candidate, has received the prestigious Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship for 2017-18. Her dissertation is titled "Beyond Nation: Politics of Abolition, Decolonization, and Fugitivity in the Transnational Mexican Revolution".
Cynthia Vazquez, PhD Student, received a UCSD Frontiers of Innovation Scholars Program (FISP) Award of $25,000 for her research project “Kumeyaay/Kumiai Transborder Education in the US and Mexico”. This is the 2nd year she has received a FISP award for her research.
Salvador Zarate, PhD candidate, has received the prestigious Ford Foundation Disertation Fellowship for 2016-17. His ground breaking dissertation is titled Engendering Life: Race and Gender in Domestic and Landscape Labor in Orange County. He also is a recipient of the 2015/16 UCSD Distinguished Teaching Award for Graduate Students.
